Byron Surf Festival 2011
The sky opened her arms to welcome the first ever Byron Bay Surf Festival this weekend, two and a half days of full paced fun showcasing the best of old and new Aussie surf culture.
Kicking off on Friday night at the Stone & Wood brewery, Bob McTavish officially opened the festival with a historical slide show and comical yarn about Byron’s early days followed by a brief talk about shaping and his tools of the trade.
Short boards, longboards, guns, fishes, single fins, quads, fun boards, mini-mals, bonzers, eggs, twinnies ... and the list goes on. You can make yourself dizzy trying to decide on what your first board should be. If you're just starting out and all these options have you puzzling, fear not, help is at hand. As you'll see, the fun factor should always be your number 1 priority when choosing your first board!
