General Information

Level:0-10 Season:September 1 — December 31

This has a name that stands out a bit, but the spot is fairly average quality. It is good for kitesurfing and doesn’t need any real experience to be able to come here, so it’s good for beginners too.

Beach

The beach at this spot is good clean sand. As it is fairly long and deep there is plenty of room to get set up, launch and land. It is located right next to Los Angeles International Airport, and you just need to follow the Imperial Highway to the point where it meets Marine Avenue. Park up here, the beach is public access and less than 5 minutes walk from the car.

Wind&Waves

Flat water spot

This area has a nice thermal wind, though it is usually light and reaches a maximum of 15 knots or so on the best days. The main direction is from the west but the best direction is when it comes from the west, and you’ll find the best overall conditions with the most consistency are from September to December. The tide state makes no difference to the surfing here, but the winds are at their best in the middle of the afternoon. It isn’t the quietest spot and it can busy on a weekend with good weather, but there is plenty of space on the beach and once on the water there is even more to go at.

Facilities

You can camp here, but there isn’t much more than that.

Safety

There are real no hazards here, although you’ll probably want to avoid hitting the rock jetty. Just get out and enjoy yourself.
