General Information
Level:0-10 Season:January 1 — December 31 -
Georgiais good for all year round winds, and this is another good spot that can entertain beginners and experienced kiters and windsurfers all year round.
-
Beach
-
As with most of Tybee Island, the beach is nice and sandy and it’s fairly big so there is plenty of room to launch and land without worrying too much about other users. Generally speaking it’s uncrowded too, which is a big plus for kiters. It’s mild here in the winter and warm in summer, so it’s rare to see anyone with more than a shorty wetsuit on – summer temperatures reach 30c, winter falls to 15c or so.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The wind blows all year round but is probably best from May to August, when you’ll get a good 3-4 days every week. Best directions are northeast, east or southeast and the speed averages 10-15 knots, though it can exceed 20 knots on a very good day. The water varies, depending on the wind and tide, between flat millpond, chop, small waves and even medium sized waves over 2m high. Winter and spring will give you the most space without worrying about tourists and other beach-dwellers.

Facilities
-
You need to park in a metered bay and it’s a short walk to the beach, but it’s easy enough. There is a shop here selling gear, so you can pick up anything you might on the way onto the beach.
-
Safety
-
There are no hazards on the beach, but there are restricted zones that you need be aware of and adhere to. Kiters must wear a leash, and everyone should steer clear of the rock jetties to the north.
