General Information

Level:0-5 Season:January 1 — December 31

Also known as ‘Weiners’ for some reason, this is a popular spot for beginners and as a result may be frustrating for the more experienced surfer who has to avoid them.

Beach

A nice long beach with an average width at this spot. It’s easy to find, just follow the 528 until you see 35th Street. You’ll need to park where you can, but if you’re finding it difficult the convention center is only a ten minute walk away and has plenty of parking.

Wind&Waves

Flat water spot

The wind direction at this spot has to be from either the west or the northeast, while the swell works from the south or the northeast. It will start working at about 1m, and build up to 2m or just over on a good day. Best tide position is mid tide, but it works regardless of whether the tide is rising or falling. It is a sandbar break, both right and left, and is just powerful enough to be fun without making it difficult for beginners. A typical day will only give a short wave length of around 50m, but a good day can see up to three times that. It seems to be generally quiet during the week, but can get crowded at weekends.

Facilities

There are plenty of facilities, including surf shops offering board rental, all around here, and many of the facilities are within an easy walk. Ocean city is a popular vacation destination and has plenty to offer anyone who isn’t out surfing.

Safety

The only thing to be aware of here is the riptide.
