General Information
Level:7-10 Season:June 1 — November 30 -
Lake Mohave is strictly for experienced kitesurfers and windsurfers as it isn’t easy to reach and has a lot of hazards. If you can handle it, or want to risk it, it can be a great spot. It’s alternative name, by the way, is ‘Death By Wind’.
-
Beach
-
This is a small sandy area in the north western part of the lake, and you can drive right up to it.. The lake is right on the border of Arizona and Nevada, and it is to the north of Bullhead City.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The thermal wind here is fairly strong, getting up over 25 knots and blowing in from the east, giving a good offshore wind. It can be gusty too, so be ready for that. Conditions are best in the mornings, from June to November, so there is a decent length season here. The water is crystal clear, which is useful as it lets you see the submerged rocks. It is empty during the week but can get crowded at weekends.
-
Facilities
-
There is a campsite here and a hotel so you are covered if you want to stay a while, which is just as well as even the nearest city is a decent drive away. Despite being in the middle of nowhere, Bullhead has a good infrastructure and a good choice of things to and places to stay.
-
Safety
-
This is a dangerous spot if you aren’t concentrating. The wind is strong, there are other people on the water, and there are rocks and other submerged hazards.
