It is possible to surf all year around here and the best times are from May through to September.
- Situated a stones throw away from he historical city of Porto where the river joins the North Atlantic lies the beach at Cabadelo Porto. It is a popular spot for surfers, wind surfers and kite surfers of intermediate and expert abilities. It is not advisable for novices to practice here because it is a busy harbor and there are a lot of passing ships and boats. You can surf all year round here as there are no restrictions. The best time is from May through to September, when the weather and the water is warmer.

Although not as busy as other spots in the area, it does get crowded with tourists during the summer months, therefore surfing restrictions may well be in place. The summer winds are pretty constant and this makes it a popular spot for kitesurfers and windsurfers who have some experience. - The spot at Troia is located on a narrow sand strip some 47 km south of Lisbon. It is reached by ferry from Setubal and juts into the Sado estuary. Having miles of beautiful golden sands and some of the cleanest bathing conditions, it is popular with holidaymakers as well as all types of surfers and sailors of all abilities. The season is from March to September but as with all of this coast, off season is possible if you are fully suited and booted.

It is a popular spot for all types of surfers who have some experience since the rocks scattered around the beach and in the water can be hazardous for beginners. - This location is little more than a small stretch of land which is located in the Tagus river (rio Tejo) which flows between Spain and Portugal. It is only ridable at high tide and only suited to experienced kitesurfers. The main season is from March to September although off season is possible if you are fully suited and booted.
- Riberia del L'has is situated a short distance from Ericeira and is very popular with expert surfers of all types. It is a vibrant spot that sees surfers all year round and the local bars see a thriving business because of this. - You'll find the beach of Praia do Matador sandwiched between Mafra and Alcobaca looking out into the North Atlantic Ocean. The spot is only suitable for expert surfers because of the rocks which run alongside the beach and are also at each end. - Situated along Portugal's Costa da Caparica coastline you'll find the beach at Nova Vaga which is a great spot for all types of surfing at all levels of ability. - This is a more challenging area than the beach just to the south, so it is really only suitable for intermediate and better kitesurfers and windsurfers. It's still a relaxed and friendly spot, and anyone with the experience will have a good day here.
- This deceptively quiet location is just to the east of Auckland, and is suitable for kite surfers and windsurfers of all abilities although beginners will probably get the most out of coming here.
- Just north of Wellington and facing Sorrento Bay, this is a popular place for windsurfers and kite surfers to stop off. It isn't really suitable for beginners, but everybody with the necessary experience will find it to be a fun location.
