- This is one of the bigger breaks in the area, caused by the aforementioned rock, and it breaks very frequently. It is suitable only for professionals are those who aren't bothered whether they walk off the beach or are carried off it.
- Just in the northern part of Encinitas, this very consistent break is good for surfers of all experience levels – there is plenty to challenge beginners, and enough to keep those with experience interested.
- Conveniently close to Cardiff-by-the-sea but still in a picturesque location, this regular break is suitable for all surfers.
- Right on the edge of the town of Ocean Beach, this place breaks very consistently and you can usually find some rideable waves even on the smallest days.
- Located close to the college whose students tend to monopolise this spot, it is suitable for experienced surfers who are able to hold their own in a crowded line up. It breaks frequently and has decent waves, and if you can find space here it's a fun day out.
- Just north of San Diego, this is a stereotypical Californian area. It is a great surfing beach that will suit everybody, whether they have experience or not, and has a great atmosphere with a mixture of locals and tourists, youngsters and old hands.

Trabucador in SpainTrabucador is situated on a shallow lagoon at the point where the river Ebro flows into the sea. It is a perfect spot for kitesurfers and windsurfers and is great for beginners due to the shallow waters. There is no real season here although October to April are the best months.
- St Carles de la Rapita is located in the south of the Ebro Delta with a wealth of sea and mountains. It is very popular with tourists because of its warm climate and is also a great spot for surfing enthusiasts of all types as well as sailors. It is not suited to beginners, however, because there are a few hazards such as wind breaks and a large harbor mole.

Santa Pola in SpainSanta Pola is a busy fishing port and a thriving tourist town which lies about 20 kilometers south of Alicante and is easily found by the huge salt pans from which tons of salt are extracted. To the south of the town lie a series of salt lakes and it is between these and the sea that the beautiful sandy beaches can be found. The area is fairly breezy most of the time and for this reason is very popular with surfers of all types and sailors.
- Situated at the busy port of Santander on Spain's northern coast lies the beach at Playa del Sardinero. This is a very popular spot for surfers, wind surfers and kite surfers of all levels and abilities. This stretch of coast gets pretty busy with tourists and here is no exception. Because of this, there may well be zone and time restrictions in place, so it just might be a good idea to confirm before you set off. To avoid the restrictions and the crowds surf from October through to April.
- About 25 kms east of the city of Gijon lies Playa La Espasa. It is a popular spot for surfers and kite surfers of all intermediate and expert abilities. It is not advisable for beginners to practice around here because there are numerous rocks dotted in and around the shoreline, so you will need to be vigilant. Like most beaches along this stretch of coast it does get pretty busy with holiday makers and sun bathers during the summer months, especially June , July and August, so there may well be time and zone restrictions in place. It might be wise to check it out before you head off. To avoid the crowds, then October through to April are your best bet.
- Situated approximately 25 kms east of Gijon, and very near to the stunning Villaviciosa natural park lies Playa del Puntal. It is a very popular spot for wind surfers and kite surfers of all levels and abilities. It does get very busy with tourists during June , July and August, so time and zone restrictions may well be in place. You might want to check it out before you set off. To avoid the crowds the best season is from October through to April.
- Situated a stones throw from the major city of Gijon, on Spain's north coast lies the stretch of coastline known as Playa De San Lorenzo. It is a popular spot for kite and wind surfers of intermediate and expert abilities. It is not advisable for beginners to practice here because there are rocks dotted on and around the water which need to be avoided, plus the fact that there are some strong undercurrents present also. The beach here does get very crowded with holiday makers especially during June, July and August, so because of this there are time restrictions in place. You may want to check these before you set off. The best times for surfing here are between the months of October through to April, when the tourists have all but disappeared.

- This place is right next to the town, making it a really convenient place to surf – you don't even have to drive to get to it. It is suitable for all experience levels, and conditions are much less challenging than those to the north end of this stretch of coast.
- One for experienced surfers, this river mouth requires a fair bit of technical ability to be able to ride it safely and enjoyably. It's in a fairly remote location in the eastern portion of the island, and it is very fast flowing – further up in the hills, the river is used for whitewater rafting trips.
- This spot is often overlooked as people head further east, but if you like your surfing to be isolated yet still in a picturesque, attractive location, you shouldn't drive by this. It is suitable for surfers of all experience levels.
- Suitable for all surfers, this spot is right in front of the popular town of Matarangi and is therefore easy and convenient to get to.

Hawai River in NoneThis river break is just on the edge of the untouched Raukumara Forest Park. Because the land curves around to the east of it, this is a relatively sheltered spot and although it doesn't break very often it is suitable for surfers of all abilities.

Found on the more sheltered Western side of the island, this is suitable for kitesurfers and windsurfers of all abilities and is the preferred spot when the wind is coming from the west.
- A popular holiday destination for Americans, Harbour Island is one of the Out Islands of the Bahamas and is heavily influenced by New England style buildings. This spot is for kite surfers and windsurfers of all abilities.
- As the name suggests, this is right down at the bottom of the island which was named for the turtles that once covered it. It is a spot for kite surfers and windsurfers, and it is suitable for all ability levels from beginners to experienced.
- Down towards the south end of the island and on the ocean facing side is this nice little spot. It isn't particularly challenging and beginners especially will find it an easy place to learn the basics, although kite surfers and windsurfers with a bit more experience will still have a good day.
- This spot is pretty sheltered, almost in a lagoon as the bay curves around and comes back on itself. Because of this conditions are predictable and safe, and both beginners and experienced kite surfers and windsurfers will enjoy the conditions here.
