- Situated a short distance from the nations capital, Rome, lies the beach at Fregene. It is a reasonably popular spot with wind surfers and kite surfers of all levels and abilities. The beach itself does get packed with tourists during the summer period, particularly June, July and August and as a result, there may well be restrictions on surfing, in place. Therefore it may pay to check this out before you set off. Having said this, the best times to surf here are between the months of April and October.
- Situated on the northern coast of Italy around the bay from the city of Trieste lies the spot at Grado Pineta. It is a great spot for wind surfers and kite surfers of all levels and abilities. It does get pretty busy with tourists on the beach during July and August. However in low tide a large sandbank is revealed which is ideal for kiters and surfers to launch from. The rest of the season, the beach is pretty much empty. The best times to surf are between April and September when the thermal winds kick in.

It is a very popular spot for kite surfers, wind surfers and surfers of all levels and abilities. The beach does get very busy in the summer and because of this it is forbidden to ride within 200 meters of the shoreline between the months of June, July and August. The best times to surf are between April and May and September through till November.

The beach gets very busy during the summer with tourists and because of this, surfing is not permitted during this time. Having said this, the best times to surf here are between the months of April and October, where you can pick up some really nice thermal breezes.

- Mayreau is the smallest island of the group, and has a population of just three hundred, yet for kitesurfers and windsurfers it offers some great opportunities in fantastic surroundings. Experience doesn’t matter here, as it’s useable by beginners and experts alike.
- This is another of those great Mahia spots. It provides a good sized wave, but it requires a lot of experience and ability to get right and anyone without the necessary experience will soon be shown up.
- Mahia is something of a hotspot for excellent waves and this one, just round the corner from Blacks, is no exception. It is for experienced surfers only, and the name comes from the large boulders found on the seabed – if you are lucky, you may even hear them moving.
- This might not break very often, but when it does off it can provide one of the best breaks around Napier. It is right in the city, just to the north of the channel from the inner harbour to the sea. It’s suitable for all experience levels, and is favoured by longboard riders.
- This is a great spot in a fantastic location. It offers a consistent break, good waves and a good atmosphere, and is suitable for surfers of all abilities.
- Also known as the Bombora, this spot is right in the city and attracts experienced surfers due to its big, heavy waves that need some ability to get right.
- This is a fantastic spot when it goes off, but it can be a hard place to surf – only those with a lot of experience or a poor sense of self-preservation should be attempting it. It breaks regularly, and is just a couple of kilometres out of Napier.
- This isn’t a bad break, with a lot of appeal because it is right in front of the city. It’s often thought of as a beginners spot, but in reality the deep water coming onto a shallow shore means that it can be tricky when big.
- A fairly quiet spot, this one will appeal to surfers of all abilities who don’t like crowds but do like to know one or two other people are around. Take time to get to know the locals and you’ll have a great day.
- Another rivermouth break, this one will suit experienced surfers who like waves that provide a bit of a challenge.

Fiumaretta in ItalySituated in the gorgeous region of Tuscany south of the city of Genova and north of Pisa, lies the beach at Fiumaretta. It is a good spot for kite surfers and wind surfers of all levels and abilities. The beach does get busy with tourists during the summer season so kite surfers are not permitted to launch from the beach. Instead a boat is used. During the off season period then beach starts are permitted. The season is generally from April through to November, although it is possible to surf all year round.
- The beach here sits on the spot where the Tagliamento river meets the Adriatic sea. Situated on the north eastern Italian cost lying between the cities of Trieste to the east and Venezia to the west is Foci Del Tagliamento. It is a good spot for kite surfers, wind surfers and surfers of intermediate and expert ability. It is not advisable for beginners to practice here because conditions can get very choppy indeed.
- Situated on Italy's western coast about 2 hours north of the Capital Rome lies the beach at Feniglia. It is a very popular spot for surfers, wind surfers and kite surfers of all levels and abilities This spot does get busy with tourists during the summer months so it is advisable not to launch near swimmers and bathers during these times. It does get pretty busy during the summer months so there may well be surfing restrictions in place during this time. It might pay you to check this out before you set off. - Situated a stone's throw away from the Capital Rome on the west coast lies the beach at Focene. It is a popular spot for windsurfers of all levels and abilities. Kite surfers are not permitted to launch here due to the close proximity to Leonardo Da Vinci Airport (in fact the beach is situated just of the end of the main runway) It is not particularly popular with tourists, so there is always plenty of space, even during the summer months. The best times to surf here are from April through to October.
- Situated on the west coast of Italy in the province of Lazio lies the beach at Follonica. It is a popular spot for wind surfers and kite surfers of intermediate and expert abilities. It is not advisable for beginners to practice here because of some of the hazards including wave breakers/groynes, and passing ships and boats. The best times of the year are between the months of April and September when the thermal winds kick in. During the summer the beach gets very busy with tourists, so you will need to go further south behind the pier as there are time restrictions as well as restricted zones.
- Situated on the south eastern coast of Italy near the fishing port of Pescara lies the beach at Foro. It is a very popular spot for kite surfers and wind surfers of all intermediate and expert levels. It is not advisable for beginners to practice here because of the fact that there are some rocky wave breakers/groynes situated about 170 meters out which need to be avoided. Although the beach does get busy with tourists during the summer season, the beach is large enough for you to have space, although it is advisable to move away from the bathers and swimmers. The best time of the year to surf here is between April and September when the thermal winds kick in.
- Situated just a short drive west of the Capital Rome, lies Focene Kite beach. This beach is used by kite surfers because they are not permitted to use the other beach that is closer to the airport . This place doesn't get very busy with tourists and as a result, you should always find plenty of space. The best times of the year to surf here are between the months of April and September.

Tremestieri in ItalyLocated in the north east of the Island of Sicily lies the surf spot at Tremestieri. This spot looks out onto the Messina Straits which has excellent wind conditions on it and makes it very popular with wind and kitesurfers of all types and abilities. The season is from April to November although off season is possible.
- Located on the far western coast of Sicily lies the city of Trapani which affords some spectacular views of the Meditteranean's beautiful sunsets. It is a popular spot for wind surfing and kite surfing for all levels of experience, with a season from April to November, although off season is possible.There is also a lot of sailing in this area.

Tonnarella in ItalyLocated on the south west coast of Sicily lies the fishing port of Mazara del Vallo and to the west of this lies the beautiful bay of Tonnarella. It's a popular spot with both wind and kite surfers who have at least intermediate experience. The season is from April to November although off season is possible here.
- To the north of Marsala, the sea forms a lagoon which is known as Stagnone. This is closed to the east by the mainland and to the west by Isola Lunga, or Long Island. It is the shape of the lagoon and its warm shallow waters, plus the fact that there is nearly always a gentle breeze, that makes this spot a very popular place for practicing windsurfing and kitesurfing. It is also popular with sailors and is suitable for catamarans. The season runs from April to November, although off season is possible here too.
