Having said this, the best times to surf here are between the months of April and September when the thermal winds kick in.

This is s good spot for kite surfers and wind surfers of all levels and abilities because the beach is virtually tourist free. However it is fairly limited in terms of size.   • Civitanova Marche is a tourist resort situated around 30 kms south of the city of Ancona in the region of Macerata. It is a very popular spot for kite surfers and wind surfers of intermediate and expert abilities. It is not a good idea for beginners to practice here because there is a rocky harbour mole that is situated just to the right of the beach. Civitanova does get busy with tourists, particularly during June, July and August and because of this, the beach may well have surfing restrictions during this period. You may want to check this out before you set off. Having said this, the best times to sure are between the months of April and September.

Therefore it may not be advisable for beginners to practice here. The best times of the year to surf are between the months of April and September, when the thermal winds kick in.

  • Situated on the north eastern coast of Italy between the cities of Ravenna and Rimini, lies the beach at Cesenatico. It is a great place for wind surfers, kite surfers and surfers of intermediate and expert abilities. It is not advisable for beginners to practice here because of the wave breakers/groynes placed all along this stretch of coast. This spot gets very busy with tourists during the summer months, particularly June, July and August and because of this there are heavy restrictions during these times. If you want to surf during these times then there are other beaches further up the coast that are not quite so crowded that have no restrictions. The best times to surf here are from April through to May and September to November.

  • Situated on the north eastern coast of Italy about 1 hour east of Bologna lies the city of Cervia. This is a great spot for kite surfers, wind surfers and surfers of all levels and abilities. There is also a yacht club here for budding sailors. This is quite a popular tourist spot and because of this the beach gets very crowded during the summer months. It may well be best to avoid the months of July and August and stick to April to June and September through to November.

It is not advisable for beginners to practice here, because just off the coast is one of the main shipping lanes to the neighbouring island of Corsica. Therefore there are lots of passing boats and ships. There are also large rocks in the water. The best times to surf here are between the months of April through to September.

It is not overrun with tourists like some of the other more popular resorts and is popular with wind and kitesurfers of all levels.
