General Information
Level:3-10 Season:July 31 — November 1 -
This exposed ocean spot is found down by the south east corner of the island, and it provides a variety of conditions for intermediate and above kiters and windsurfers. It’s a gorgeous spot, well worth a trip.
-
Beach
-
The beach runs all along a large bay, and consists of a lot of soft, clean sand. There is loads of room, no obstacles, and it isn’t a place that ever gets crowded. The water is almost always warm here, usually well above 25 C, with just a few winter days requiring a shorty as the wind can be chilly then.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The season is good almost all year round, with the possible exception of August to October. The trade winds here blow consistently from the northeast or east, and will give 15 – 25 knots depending on the time of day – generally speaking, they build up throughout the day. The water is beautifully clear, and tide has no effect. The surface is never flat, but you’ll find it is choppy close to the shore before giving way to small waves and eventually larger waves up to 2 or 3m high once you get outside the bay.
-
Facilities
-
The only facilities you’ll find here is a car park, and even then it takes a 4x4 to get down the private access toll road. Most people will find themselves walking from the Les Salines tourist beach, about 4km away.
-
Safety
-
The beach doesn’t have any hazards, but you will need to avoid the shallow reefs that are found out in the bay.
