Badalona is a port and city in eastern Catalonia in northern Spain, near to Barcelona. It is situated on the left bank of the small Besos River and on the Mediterranean Sea, and is flanked by the Sierra de la Marina mountain range. The spot is popular with sailors as well as surfers of all types and abilities. The season is pretty much all year round.

Beach

There is a long sandy beach about 5 km in length, with plenty of room for rigging and launching with a few rocks scattered around which you need to look out for. The beach gets very busy in the summer months of June, July and August with holiday makers and you may be best to arrive really early in the morning or much later in the day, otherwise give it a miss. The beach is easily accessed from next to the harbor.

The winds are predominantly easterlies from March through to October with northerly windss for the remainder of the year. The wind is fairly constant at around 4-5 knots all year. The water quality is clean and tends to be choppy, particularly with easterly winds. You can also get some nice waves of around 1 meter. Summers are hot here and the water averages a pleasant 24 degrees. All year surfing is possible with a thick wetsuit.

There is plenty at this beach including toilet facilities and places to buy food. There is a good selection of cafes and restaurants and also some nightlife. If you want to do some serious shopping or sightseeing, then Barcelona is only 10 minutes away and you will also get some fantastic nightlife there.

Watch out for rocks on the beach and also look out for holiday makers on the beach during June, July and August.
