General Information

Level:0-10 Season:November 1 — July 31

This large bay is found on the central eastern part of Martinique.  It is just on the outskirts of the town of Le Robert, and is good for windsurfers and kitesurfers of all abilities.  The atmosphere is as laid back as you’d expect and once you’re done playing in the water there is some fantastic scenery to explore.

Beach

The beach is sandy and clean, clear of obstacles but only quite small.  Although you’d never say it gets crowded, it can feel busy if more than a handful of kiters are out as space is limited.  The climate here is tropical, with a rainy season from June to October, and the water is approaching 30 C for most of the year.

Wind&Waves

Flat water spot

The season here runs all year with the exception of August to October when the winds become unreliable.  The wind mostly comes in from the northeast or east, and as they are trade winds they’ll blow quite consistently throughout the day.  Windspeed is 15 – 25 knots on most days.  The water is usually flat, owing to the shelter provided by the surrounding land, but it can be choppy if the wind is stronger than average.

Facilities

Parking is freely available around here, and you should only have a short walk to the beach.  While it doesn’t really have any facilities of its own, the town is a good size and offers a choice of accommodation, restaurants, nightlife and anything else you might want, although shopping opportunities are limited.

Safety

There aren’t any hazards here as long as you take care to keep some distance between yourself and other people on the beach.
