General Information
Level:3-10 Season:January 1 — August 31 -
Aruba is a very popular tourist destination because of its warm sunny climate and gorgeous white sand beaches. The weather here is more stable than some of the other Caribbean islands as it is just outside the hurricane belt, and as a result conditions for watersports are very consistent. Barcadera is on the sheltered West Coast and is suitable for intermediate or better windsurfers and kite surfers.
-
Beach
-
The beach is small and consists of very fine white sand, but it is clean and there are no hazards on it. Despite the small size it doesn't get crowded, and if you like it hot then this is a good place to spend a day as the temperatures will be around 30° C all year round.
-
Wind&Waves
-
You get a decent trade wind here from January right through to August and blowing from the north-east at a minimum of 15 knots and often at around 25 knots. The winds can be lighter from September into early December, but they still have enough power in them to work. The water is never flat, and depending on the wind strength you will see waves of between 1 m and 3 m high that are a lot of fun to play on and will roll in consistently throughout the day.
-
Facilities
-
There are no facilities here at all, although you can park on the grassy area behind the beach. Santa Cruz is the nearest town where you are likely to get accommodation and restaurants etc.
-
Safety
-
The only potential hazard here is the gusty wind, although if you have a reasonable amount of experience it shouldn't be a problem.
