General Information
Level:4-10 Season:January 1 — December 31 -
Depending on the time of year, this place is good for both snow and water kiting, and in the summer you’ll also find windsurfers out. It’s not really on the tourist trail, or close to any big cities, but it’s worth making the effort to get here. However, it should only be used experienced kiters.
-
Beach
-
The beach is a mixture of grass and sand, with some rocks and pebbles mixed in for good measure so you need to know what you are doing with a kite to be safe here. The summers here are warm, reaching around 25c in July, but the winters are cold and it gets down to an average of -4 between December and February.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The best wind direction is when it blows from the west in winter and fall, with a range between 15 and 25 knots, which is considerably more than the average for the rest of the year. It’s a frontal wind and you can usually find something all year round, though it’s less consistent and predictable in the summer months. Waves are small, if they exist as more than a bit of chop on the surface they won’t get any bigger than about 1m. Water quality is excellent here, and being a lake it is completely independent of tide so you can roll up whenever you feel like it. It’s also a quiet spot and you’ll have all the room you need.

Facilities
-
It’s not a bad set up here, with a shop for gear, camping facilities and plenty of parking available. If you want nightlife, Saratoga Springs is your best bet, about 30 minutes drive away.
-
Safety
-
Mind the rocks on the beach, and the trees for that matter. Make sure you are prepared for the cold if you come here in winter, too.
