General Information
Level:0-10 Season:October 1 — April 1 -
Situated west of the busy seaside resort of Tarifa lies the much quieter beach at Bolonia. It is a great spot for surfers, kite surfers and wind surfers of all levels and abilities. The summer months get pretty busy with tourists and beach goers and because of this, kite surfing and wind surfing is not permitted during these times. If you want to avoid the crowds and the restrictions they try surfing from October through to April.

Beach
-
Bolonia has a fine white sandy beach that is large in size and around 100 meters wide. To get here you need to head out of Tarifa on the N340 coast road, then exit at the Bolonia turn off. Follow the small road that takes you directly to the beach where you can park
-
Wind&Waves
-
The winds here are thermal during the summer and the predominant wind direction here is north easterly and westerly. The best direction is westerly. The winds are pretty gusty most of the time and are anywhere between 15-25 knots. However some days 40 knots is not uncommon. The water quality is clean and conditions are flat to choppy. However when the wind is in the right direction then it is possible to pick up some waves of up to 3 meters in height. The water temperature falls somewhere between 18-26 degrees depending upon the season.

Facilities
-
There is plenty of parking here and there are also a few beachside Chiringuitos where you can grab a bite to eat and a drink. Bolonia itself has a handful of shops, restaurants and bars. If you are looking for nightlife then head back to Tarifa or alternatively, head for Malaga or Jerez.

Safety
-
There isn't really too much to worry about here, just be mindful of the surfing restrictions during the summer months.
