General Information

Level:1-10 Season:December 1 — April 31

Another interestingly named bay, this is a large horseshoe shaped area that provides conditions suitable for all abilities of windsurfer and kitesurfer.  Typically laid back, it has a great atmosphere in fantastic surroundings.  The island itself is basically a big reef with a beach, 14 miles long but only 3 miles wide and 30 feet high at most, and it is possibly the most spectacular environment you’ll ever see.

Beach

Sand

This beach is just gorgeous, easily one of the best anywhere.  Miles of soft white sand, in a perfect horseshoe bay, and never any crowds – in fact, you’ll rarely see any other people.  The climate is great too, with warm water and lots of sunshine all year round.

Wind&Waves

Flat water spot

The season runs from December to March, when the trade wind is blowing very consistently from the northeast at speeds of 15 – 25 knots.  The water is shallow, clean and crystal clear, and the shape of the bay tends to funnel the wind up it.  As a result the surface is choppy for the most part, with some small waves out by the surrounding reef that will reach about 1m in height.

Facilities

Access by public transport

The island has a small airstrip, and you can fly in via Antigua or Puerto Rico.  If you don’t fancy that, hire a boat and sail in and then take a 4x4 over to Bones Bight.  There aren’t any facilities here though, so make sure you’ve packed everything you might need.

Safety

Underwater obstacles

The reef is sharp and will damage you or your kite if you land on it, but it’s otherwise a very safe place to be.
