General Information
Level:2-10 Season:October 1 — April 1 -
Brodtener Ufer sits right on the curve of a natural inlet that the Baltic Sea has created against the coastline. The best surfing is from autumn to spring. It is backed by cliffs so a direct onshore wind could cause dangerous upwinds for kite surfers so you have to know what you are doing. However surfers can experience reasonably decent waves here.
-
Beach
-
The beach is small and sandy, with lots of stones, so care should be taken. How you find it is to take the A226 and B75 out of Lubeck and follow the signs for Travemeunde then follow signs for Niendorf and Timmendorfer. When in Niendorf turn right onto Brodtener Strasse and then follow the road towards the cliffs. Park at the top and climb down.

Wind&Waves
-
This spot works best in north easterly conditions which can occur in the summer, however the winds here are mainly westerly or variations thereof. The winds are frontal and average around 9 knots although it can get pretty gusty. For surfers, you can catch some reasonably sized waves here of 3 meters plus, if the wind is in the right direction; however there are many large stones in the water! Water temperatures hover around 15 degrees in the summer but can get pretty cold 2-3 degrees in the winter, so suit up accordingly.

Facilities
-
There isn’t a lot here, so if you want supplies, and accommodation, Timmendorfer offers all of these.
-
Safety
-
Only for experienced kite surfers due to the cliffs. Watch out for stones in the water.
