Beach
-
There is a small grassed area with a dam and a concrete shore leading into the water. Kiters need to launch carefully here and it is recommended to launch out of the water. The beach area is just to the north west of Buesem. Make your way towards Erlengrund and then follow the signs for “Zum Sandstrand”.
-
Wind&Waves
-
There are predominantly frontal westerly winds with depressions which work best from fall to spring. The best wind directions are south, south west and north, north west. Surfing is not so good in the summer as the summer winds are much lighter. The water fluctuates between flat or choppy, depending on the wind speed and direction. It is a tidal beach and only really ridable for 2.5 hours before and after high tide. There is a large shallow area which makes the spot ideal for beginners. In low tide, experienced surfers can go to the small basin behind the dam which remains full of water at low tide.
-
Facilities
-
There is a surf school here plus a well stocked rental shop. Small shops and bars are available in nearby Busum.
-
Safety
-
Be careful in the basin as its shore is made from concrete.
