Cabo De Gata is a natural park extending for some 30 kms along Spain's Costa Blanca which has been created from a sub-desert mountain range producing some wonderul coves and beaches. This spot at Cabo De Gata is popular with kite surfers and surfers of all levels and abilities.

Beach

Pebble/Shingle Gradual descent

The beach is very long and wide and made up of very fine pebbles. It is a big beach with plenty of room for launching and landing a kite and the great thing is that it is never very busy.To get here drive east from Almeria and follow the signs to Retamar and then further SE you will come to the beach at Cabo De Gata.

Wind&Waves

The winds are a mixture of easterlies and westerlies and are at their best during the winter months. NNW and SSE are sideshore winds. The summer winds tend to be quite light and are not very constant. The water quality is clean with small to medium waves breaking on the beach with W and SW winds. The water tends to be flat to choppy with S and SE winds. The climate is very mild and surfing is possible all year round with just a pair of shorts in the summer months and a wetsuit in the winter.

Facilities

Parking Camping

There is parking at the spot but very little else since you are in the heart of a natural park. There is camping at Cabo de Gata but very few other places to stay. For supplies and a wider choice of accommodation plus bars and cafes you need to head into Almeria.
