General Information

Level:0-10 Season:January 1 — December 31

Situated on Spain's south western Atlantic coast, Camposoto sits right on a peninsular and is a very popular spot for surfers, windsurfers and kite surfers alike of all abilities and levels. Like most Spanish beaches, it gets pretty crowded during the high season so it may be advisable to avoid August especially, because this is also when the Spanish take their holidays. Parking here is not a problem as there is plenty of it and it's free.

Beach

Sand Gradual descent

Camposoto has a large lengthy sandy beach with plenty of room, therefore out of season it should be easy to pick your spot, however you might be fighting for space with bathers and sun worshippers alike during the height of the season. So how do you find it? Take the E5 motorway westwards out of Cadiz towards Chiclana De La Frontera, then pick up the A48 towards San Fernando, here you will see signs for (La playa) the beach. There are a couple of large car parks at the end of the road where you can park.

Wind&Waves

Wave spot Regular wind

The wind here is frontal and generally comes at you from a westerly direction or variations thereof. However during certain times of the year primarily March and April, August, September and October, the wind changes to a full on easterly breeze, which is a good direction for surfing in these parts. The wind speed hovers around 7-8 knots, but can become pretty gusty at times. The water here is clear and of good quality. The water is always choppy but if the wind is of good speed and in the right direction, you can pick up some small waves of about 1 meter in height, and they can last for around 150 meters which is good news for surfers. The water temperature hovers at  a pleasant 23 degrees during the summer but drops down to around 8 or 9 degrees during the winter so you will need to suit up during the winter months.

Facilities

Parking

There is plenty of parking here as already mentioned and there are also a handful of beachside Chiringuitos where you can grab a tapas or a drink if you need to. If you need shops then you will need to head into San Fernando which is about a 10 minute drive away. For nightlife, then it has to be Cadiz.

Safety

There really is not too much to worry about here, simply be aware of the bathers and other surfers during the height of the season.
