General Information

Level:10-10 Season:January 1 — December 31

Around 15 km north of Taghazout you will come to Cape Ghir which has a prominent position looking out into the Atlantic Ocean in the south west of Morocco. It is only suited to expert surfers since there are lots of cliffs and rocks to negotiate before entering the water. However, it does see some excellent waves here.

Beach

Sand Gradual descent

There is a very small sandy beach here which is backed by cliffs with lots of rocks near the shoreline. It is very quiet here and the beach is usually empty. You can get here by driving north on the P8 from Agadir, drive through Taghazout and it is about 15 km further on. As you get to the Cape the beach is on its south side.

Wind&Waves

Wave spot Regular wind

The winds are predominantly north and variations thereof. North is the best direction for this spot and is offshore. The best winds are during the summer months although they can be quite gusty. The water is crystal clear with some excellent waves. The temperature of the water is only about 16-19 degrees all year round so you will need at least a 3 mm wetsuit all of the time. The air temperature in the summer is around 30 degrees but it does feel colder here.

Facilities

Parking

This place is rarely visited so there is nothing in place. You can park here and walk down to the beach. For accommodation, shops and restaurants you need to head back into Taghazout.

Safety

It is very dangerous here unless you know what you are doing. Never come here on your own.
