Capo Mannu / Sardinia / Italy

General Information

Level:10-10 Season:September 1 — March 31

Capo Mannu is on the west coast of Sardinia near Oristano, and it’s one of the best and most hardcore wave spots in the Mediterranean.

Beach

The Capo is famous and infamous for its perfect powerful waves, strong mistral and razor-sharp teeth-like pumice-rock shoreline.

Wind&Waves

Flat water spot

With west swells the Capo will start going off with waves from 2-5 m + mistral 25-50 knots.

Medi Capo is slightly sheltered from the wind so check it out for surfing.

Mini Capo is closest to Putzu idu bay where there is a narrow beach - the waves are fast and can tend to closeout.

Mistral is side shore, N is side-off, Ponente from the west will get very lully inside the bays and is straight onshore so can easily leave you on the rocks in a wipeout. Strong mistral will tend to push you out of the bay if you’re lucky.

Laguna or Sa Mesa Longa – point break, beautiful beach. Waves 2-4 m

Check out San Giovanni with N-NO winds.

No wind or waves

Sardinia is a beautiful island, go look around.

Safety

The Capo can leave its mark.

Very sharp and jagged pumice rock coastline, many people use booties. Expect to end up on the rocks, sea urchins, powerful waves. Leashes can snag on the reefs underwater.

Localism – the local surfers are jealous of their spot, make friends onshore before paddling out to the lineup. Can get crowded.
