General Information
Level:0-10 Season:January 1 — December 31 -
Cesantes is situated on the north west coast of Spain in Galicia and is not a million miles away from the border of Portgual. It is a small port which juts out into the Rio Vigo and consequently gets fairly busy with boats and ships. The spot is good for kitesurfers and windsurfers of all abilities. There is no real season here and surfing is possible all year round if you are fully suited.
-
Beach
-
The beach is big and sandy with plenty of space although it can get quite busy during the summer months. You can get here by travelling north east from Vigo towards Redondela and then Cesantes is a little further north.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The winds are pretty much of a mixed bag at this spot, with predominant winds being southerlies. You can ride on either side of the point at this spot, so depending on the wind direction it can be either onshore or offshore. The best winds are to be had from March to May with the summer months being lighter. The water quality is clean and tends to be flat to choppy. There is a good shallow area which is ideal for beginners practicing and also the water is nice and flat on the offshore side. No matter what time of year, the water never gets really warm, and so a wetsuit will be beneficial at any time.
-
Facilities
-
Apart from parking there is nothing much at this spot. Cesantes has a small selection of shops but Redondela is your best bet if you are wanting to stock up on supplies or have a meal out.

Safety

Watch out for shipping traffic and be aware of other surfers.
