General Information
Level:0-10 Season:April 1 — October 31 -
This is a good spot for experienced surfers to come to in the fall, when the hurricane season is on and the tourists have gone home. It can be pretty flat in the summer, but at that time it is more suited to beginners.

Beach
-
Head down Delaware Route 1, which runs right through the town of Dewey Beach. Keep your eyes open for Chicago Street – that’s where the spot is. The beach is clean, golden sand and is public access, but parking can be hard to find when it is busy so be prepared for a walk of around 20 minutes.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The only decent wind direction is from the west, and the swell has to be from the north or northwest. The swell starts working at about 1m or so, and will hold up to 2.5m and bigger. The best time to catch it is at mid tide when it is rising. It is a typical beach break, both right and left, and the waves are powerful enough to be fun. Ride length is usually a short 50m, but in the fall it can be as much as 150m when the hurricane swells are coming in. Generally speaking, it is a quiet spot on weekdays but can be extremely crowded on summer weekends.

Facilities
-
Dewey Beach has a bit of a reputation as a party town in summer, so there is plenty to do when the surf isn’t up. There are plenty of hotels and cottages available for rent if needed, and lots of places to eat.

Safety
-
Be wary of the undertows around here, but there are lifeguards on hand if you do get caught out.
