General Information
Level:5-10 Season:January 1 — December 31 -
Situated at the south eastern end of the Island of Paros in the Cyclades Island Group lies the spot at Chrysi Akti. Also known as “Golden Beach” it is a very popular spot for kite surfers, wind surfers and surfers of intermediate and expert abilities. Beginners are not advised to practice here because on big days the water here can be really wavy. The best time to surf here is between the months of April and September when the thermal winds kick in. However it can get busy with tourists during June July and August and there may well be surfing restrictions in place during this time.

Beach
-
The beach at Chrysi Akti is around 700 metres long and is made up of soft white sand with no hazards. To get here you will need to drive south easterly towards the town of Drios, just before this you will see signs for the beach where you can park.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The main directions are south east, south west, south and north east and they all work extremely well here. During the summer (particularly June , July and August) at around noon the thermal winds kick in pretty much every day. During the winter the winds are less frequent but much more gustier. The water quality is crystal clear and conditions are choppy with small to large waves of up to 4 metres when the winds are right. The water temperature remains at around 14-26 degrees depending upon the season, so you may need to suit up or down accordingly.
-
Facilities
-
The facilities here are pretty good. As well as ample parking you have shower and toilet facilities as well as various eating establishments. You also have a surf shop and a fully manned rescue centre close by. If you want to let your hair down a little the head into the town of Drios.
-
Safety
-
Watch out for large waves, particularly if you are a beginner and keep a look out for swimmers and bathers in and around the water during the busy summer months.
