General Information

Level:5-10 Season:April 1 — September 30

This is not only a big wave spot, it's also very consistent and provides good surfing for a good portion of the year.  You need experience to be out here, it is definitely not a beginners place, and it has a good mellow atmosphere.

Beach

There is a fairly long, sandy beach here and as it is off the beaten track it is usually quiet, although if it is going off and the weather is good it can get busy.  Air temperatures are mild most of the year, and the water temperatures vary from about 12° C in winter to around 21° C in summer.

Wind&Waves

Flat water spot

The waves here will start working at less than 1 m and reach a maximum of about 3 - 4 m on the best days, though you will need to catch it on a falling tide and at either mid or high tide position. It breaks to the right over a sandbar, and as well as being quite big the waves carry a fair amount of speed and have a bit of power behind them too. Length is usually short and doesn't get much more than 50 m except on rare days when it can reach 150 m.

Facilities

There are public toilets here, but that's it in terms of facilities.  There are campsites nearby but not on the beach itself, and if you want to use a city as a base then San Clemente is a short drive away and has all the facilities you would expect.

Safety

Provided you have the experience to handle the waves themselves you shouldn't find that there are any serious hazards here. The main thing to keep an eye out for is other surfers.
