General Information
Level:1-10 Season:January 1 — December 31 -
This is a bit of an odd location as far as surf spots go. Instead of relying on nature to provide the waves, here you are actually using the wake from the ferry. It’s an easy place to surf and it’s consistent, owing to the regular ferry schedule.
-
Beach
-
The beach is sandy and you’re looking for a stretch that runs from the second or third house below the dock to about the 5th or 6th house down. Any further than that and the waves aren’t really worth it, but you need to find a patch that doesn’t have more than two or three surfers already on it.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The swell comes from the ferry as it passes every 20 minutes, and it works in a northwest or west direction. It will start building at less than 1m and hold up to just over 2m, which isn’t bad for a wake from a boat and better than you’d find round here otherwise. Technically it is a beach break, only to the left, and the waves don’t have much power or speed but are consistent and just a bit of fun. Length isn’t too bad, being about 100m most of the time and not really varying from that.

Facilities
-
There aren’t any facilities on the beach but the town is right next door to the beach area. Park by the dock, right next to the beach

Safety
-
There are couple of things to be aware of here, but you should be able to deal with them if you are awake. The first thing is that you shouldn’t get too close to the ferry when paddling out, and the second is to avoid the old pilings that are around the shore. Both should be obvious and if you struggle with either of them then maybe it’s time you took up something safer.
