General Information
Level:0-10 Season:January 1 — December 31 -
Situated a stones throw away from the vibrant city of Hurghada on Egypt's Red Sea Coast lies the Colona Watersports Center. It caters for kite surfers and wind surfers of all levels and abilities. Although it will cost you somewhere between 17 and 40 Egyptian Pounds per day to surf here (this is somewhere between 3 and 7 USD) There are different zones that you will have to respect and beginners can use the training bay. This is reportedly one of the best set up watersports centers in Egypt and it is very well run and extremely well organised.

Beach
-
The beach here is of medium size and is comprised mainly of sand and shells with a few small rocks thrown in. In front of the center, the beach is fairly narrow whereas in the upper lagoon the beach is much wider. There are the obligatory thatched sun shades dotted along the beach so you will need to keep a close eye on these. To get here you simply book a taxi from Hurghada airport and tell the driver your destination, he will know exactly where this is. Be mindful not to except the first price as it is all about haggling!

Wind&Waves
-
The main wind directions are north, north west and north northwest and the directions that work best here are north and north east. During the summer the winds are pretty constant as the thermal winds kick in coming from the desert. (Bear in mind to add 1-2 bft to the wind strength during these times) During the winter the wind is far less frequent but can be much more gusty. The water quality is crystal clear and conditions are flat to choppy. The water temperature during the winter still remains above 20 degrees so you can get away with a summer suit (2-3 mm) and in the summer you only need shorts or a shorty.
