General Information
Level:0-10 Season:April 1 — October 1 -
Situated on the outskirts of the capital city of Rome lies the beach at Curvone. It is a popular spot with kite surfers of all levels and abilities. Because of its proximity to the capital it does get busy with tourists and sun seekers during the busy summer months, therefore there may well be surfing restrictions in place. Having said this, the best times to surf are between April and October.
-
Beach
-
Curvone has a large sandy beach with plenty of space for you to launch and land your kite. However be aware of holiday makers during the busy times. To get here you need to drive west out of the City heading towards Lido Di Ostia. When you get here just go south of the bridge and you can park up.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The main wind directions are south east, west and west northwest and all of these directions work really well here. The water quality is clean and conditions are choppy pretty much all of the time. The water temperature remains somewhere between 12-26 degrees depending upon the time of year, so you may need to suit up accordingly.
-
Facilities
-
There is parking close by, but the town of Lido Di Ostia is only a short walk away and here you can find a good selection of bars, shops, restaurants, accommodation and in the summer, the nightlife is excellent.
-
Safety
-
This is a fairly safe spot. Just be careful of the harbour mole and the wave breakers. Also keep a watch out for swimmers and bathers in and around the water during the busy summer season.
