Delta Del Ebro sits on Spain's northwest coast and is a popular spot for surfers, kite surfers and wind surfers of all levels and abilities. It does get extremely busy here during the summer months therefore, there may well be time and zone restrictions imposed during these tourist months. So it might be a good idea to check before you set off, There is no particular season here but if you go from October through to April you are certain to avoid the crowds.

Beach

Delta Del Ebro has a gorgeous long white sandy beach that does get rammed with tourists during June, July and August, so it might be a good idea to avoid it like the plague. Come out of season and you will be able to pick your spot. To get here you head towards Tarragona from Barcelona. Then from Tarragona head further south towards Ampolla, here you will see signs for the Delta, follow it down and park.

Wind&Waves

The main wind direction here is northwest which can create sideshore gusty winds. The wind speed on average is 6 knots and is fairly consistent most of the time. The water quality is clean and is generally choppy. There is also a shallow part for the first 150 meters or so. When the wind is strong enough and in the right direction it is possible to catch small waves of up to 1 meter in height. The water temperature falls somewhere between 16-26 degrees depending upon the time of year. In winter a normal long wetsuit will suffice but the rest of the year you can get away with shorts or a shorty.

Thee are toilet facilities here along with eating places and ample parking. For everything else, then your nearest towns are Riumar or Tortosa which are around 10 minutes drive.

Safety

There isn't really too much to worry about here, just keep an eye out for bathers and swimmers in the water during the summer months.
