General Information

Level:0-10 Season:June 1 — September 30

This is a beach that has fairly consistent surfing conditions, and it is suitable for all levels of experience. Cape Cod means it is sheltered from some of the bigger swells.

Beach

This is a short sandy beach and it often gets crowded, especially on good summer weekends. It is only about half an hour north of Boston, and sits on a spit of land to the east of Marblehead.

Wind&Waves

Flat water spot

The spot here is pretty sheltered from the wind by the rest of the Cape, and you really only get it from the north. The swells come from south, east or north east directions and they will start working at about 1m before building and holding up to 2m or more. It is a reef break, breaking both right and left, and the waves tend to be ledgey but fun. A normal length will be up to 150m, and on a big swell it can reach up to 300m. Low and mid tide are the best times to get on it, and it works well with both falling and rising tides. It is warm in summer and very cold in winter here.

Facilities

Boston is only 30 minutes away and as the biggest city in Massachusetts it has plenty to offer. Tourism is a big thing here, mostly based around culture and sports.

Safety

Watch out for the rocks and the coral, you can easily get cut if you aren’t careful. There is also only one real take off spot, so learn to wait your turn or the locals won’t be happy.
