General Information

Didim is a fast growing tourist resort located in the region of Aydin, in south Aegean Turkey. It is sited on a peninsula which has a overall total of 80 kms of coastline offering great conditions for surfing and sailing. This beach spot is suited to all types of surfers of all abilities. The best months here are from april to September although it is possible to surf all year round.

The beach is long and sandy with a grassed area for rigging. It gets busy with holidaymakers during the summer months of June through to September and so it may be best to plan your visit outside of these months.

Wind&Waves

The winds are a mixture of thermals and frontals and blow predominantly from the north, south and the west. The best winds are during Spring to Fall and can reach up to 24 knots in strength. The waters are clear, turquoise and mainly flat to choppy, although southerly winds can produce some good waves. The summers are hot here and you need wear no more than a pair of shorts and a lycra. Come the winter, though, and you will need to wear a wetsuit as the winters can be cold.

This spot is totally geared up for surfing and there is a school as well as a shop selling a variety of gear and a rental shop. In addition there are shower and toilet facilities on the beach as well as camping. There is also a good choice of small cafes and bars dotted along the beachside. The Yacht marina is a focal point of Didim and there is always plenty going on around there, including a variety of excellent night life.

Safety

This spot is pretty safe but just in case you do get into difficulties, there is a fully manned rescue boat on hand, to help you out.
