General Information
Level:3-10 Season:October 1 — April 1 -
This is named for the long since closed sewer outlet, and it is right in front of the Fairgrounds in Ventura. It provides good size waves and is a place for experienced surfers, very good when it is firing and still not bad when it isn't.
-
Beach
-
The beach is fairly small and narrow at this point, and it consists of clean deep sand. It is usually pretty empty, though you might see a handful of surfers out at weekends. The water temperatures are cool, with a maximum of about 18 or 19° C in summer and a low of about 14° C in winter.
-
Wind&Waves
-
Winter and spring give the best conditions here, with the wind coming from the south-east, east or north-east and the swell coming from the north-west, west or south-west. It works on rising and falling tides but only at the mid or high tide mark, and the swell will start at 1.5 to 2 m and hold up to over 4 m. It is a beach break, both right and left, and the waves are fast and powerful and as a bonus, hollow. The length is often short and doesn't get much more than 50 m except every once in awhile when it can be excellent and reach maybe 300 m.

Facilities
-
The fairground is just behind the beach, and as plenty of food and drink kiosks as well as restrooms. If you want more, then the city proper is just behind it.
-
Safety
-
There are quite a few submerged rocks that you need to be careful of, and they are the reason why you don't surf at low tide. There are also quite a few locals around who will let you know if you do something stupid.
