General Information
Level:1-10 Season:April 1 — November 31 -
Belgiumseems to have more than a fair share of good watersports locations, and this spot is no exception with its variety of conditions and good facilities. The conditions here are good for windsurfing, kitesurfing and surfing, and are suitable for all ability levels.
-
Beach
-
This a pretty big beach, sandy with lots of space although you can get a lot of visitors and beachgoers here in July and August. Summer water temperatures will average 18 C so you‘ll manage with a shorty or even shorts, but by winter the water has cooled to about 6C and a drysuit or thick wetsuit is required.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The season runs from March to November, and during these months you’ll get good frontal winds. They’ll be best when blowing from the north, northeast or west, and will usually give 15 – 20 knots but can be gusty. The water is clean, and the spot isn’t really affected by tides, but wind does have an impact. The surface is choppy in lighter winds, has small waves in moderate winds, and larger waves up to 3m high in stronger winds.
-
Facilities
-
Parking is available close to the beach, but you can easily walk here if you are in town already. There is a school based out of here, and a shop offers gear sales and hire. The beach has toilet and shower areas, and there are food outlets too.
-
Safety
-
Mind the groynes, and the currents can be strong here too. There may be people on the beach in the holiday season, and you’ll find the odd stone buried in the sand.
