General Information
Level:0-10 Season:January 1 — December 31 -
At the head of Eimio Creek, surprisingly enough, and right between Bucasi and Dolphin Heads is this little surf spot. It only breaks rarely, but is suitable for all, especially beginners, and has a good laid back atmosphere as well as being conveniently located.
-
Beach
-
The beach is technically private, belonging to the hotel, but if you aren’t staying there you can paddle round from Seaview Park. It is sandy but only small – fortunately it’s a fairly quiet spot and there is always plenty of room, with only a few surfers out even at weekends. The water temperature never drops below 20 C, and can reach as high as 30 C, so most people just wear shorts or a shorty – a full wetsuit is never seen.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The swell works when it is coming from the southeast, east or northeast, preferably with a very strong southeast wind, and does so on rising and falling tides, with the water at the mid or high tide position. It will start working at less than 1m and hold up to about 2m – 2.5m. A point break, only to the right, the waves are about average in terms of speed and power and will be good learning curve for beginners.
-
Facilities
-
There is a hotel right by the beach which of course offers a full range of facilities. Failing that, if you don’t intend to stay long then either town offers places to get food and drink.
-
Safety
-
There aren’t any hazards, it is a really safe place to get out and get to grips with the basics under good conditions.
