General Information
Level:6-10 Season:January 1 — December 31 -
El Chapparal is located on Spain's southern coast close to bustling Fuengirola in the costa Del Sol. It is a pleasant spot for kitesurfers and windsurfers of intermediate to expert level. It is not suitable for beginners because there are several rocks in the water and on the shore. There is no real season here as due to it's mild climate surfing can be done practically all year round.
-
Beach
-
The beach is quite small and sandy with rocks scattered around it. It is also close to the road which makes it a little hazardous. The summer months can get very crowded and kiting is not recommended at that time. You can get here on the A49 from Malaga and exit after Fuengirola.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The winds are a mixture of thermals and frontals with the best months being March, April, May and June. The predominant wind directions are ENE and WSW with the best directions for the spot being WSW. The water quality is clean and tends to be mainly flat to choppy depending on the wind direction and strength. There are a few rocks in the water that you need to look out for. The area has a mild climate and so surfing is possible all year round. You only need wear a pair of shorts in the summer and a wetsuit in the winter months.
-
Facilities
-
There is plenty of parking here as well as places to grab a bite to eat and a drink. For supplies just head into Fuengirola which has everything that you could need. The nightlife is pretty good as well.

Safety
-
Watch out for the road as well as the rocks scattered on the beach and in the water. Also look out for swimmers in the water during the busy summer months.
