General Information
Level:0-10 Season:May 1 — September 30 -
This is an interesting spot. It offers consistent surf because there are two sandbars here, which work in different directions. It is suitable for all levels of experience
-
Beach
-
Plenty of clean white sand around here; it’s a nice quiet spot. Get onto the peninsula via Route 47 from the mainland, then drive south on New Jersey Avenue. Take a left at Syracuse Avenue and drive down towards the beach. You can park up at the motel down at the end of the road, which is, by sheer coincidence, El Coronado. It is a public access beach and it is less than 5 minutes walk from the motel parking lot. Surfing is prohibited from 9-5 in summer, but the best waves are in the fall and winter anyway.

Wind&Waves
-
The wind is best when it is coming out of the northwest or west at this spot, but the swell isn’t so fussy. Because of the two sandbars, you’ll get decent surf with the swell from the southwest, south, southeast, east or northeast. It will start building at 1m – 1.5m and hold up to 2m or more, and it works at all tide positions and on both rising and falling tides. It breaks both right and left and the waves are generally pretty ordinary, with not much power, but can still be fun. Most days will see short waves, but a good day will have a length of over 130m. For some reason, there is never anyone else out at this spot.
-
Facilities
-
It’s only a small area but it does offer a few motels, not least the El Coronado. It’s a pleasant enough place to be with a laid back feel.
-
Safety
-
There aren’t dangers to worry about here, it is another spot to just get in and have some fun.
