General Information

Level:0-10 Season:January 1 — December 31

Situated in the south Sinai province of Egypt on the Red Sea coast and just under 10 kms from the bustling resort of Sharm El Sheikh lies the beach at El Jankie. This is a very quiet spot that does not get many tourists. As a result there isn't much here apart from a glorious beach. It is a good spot for kite surfers and wind surfers that gives perfectly flat water. There are no restrictions here and it is possible to surf here all year around. Just be aware that although the area is not out of bounds to surfers and kiters, the military might call you out of the water.

Beach

Sand Gradual descent

This beach is virtually deserted so you will need to make sure that you don't go out alone. It is large in size with plenty of space to pick your spot. To get here you will need to drive to the Sharm El Sheikh peninsula and drive to the very southern tip. Here you will need to go off road until you find the glorious unspoilt beach. It is situated just outside the national park of Ras Mohamed.

Wind&Waves

Flat water spot Regular wind

The winds are good all year round and mainly comes at you from a northwesterly direction. This direction also works best here. The wind is usually sideshore and between the months of May through to September the thermal winds kick in. The water quality is crystal clear and conditions are flat most of the time. The water temperature is still a pleasant 18-20 degrees even in the winter so you can get away with a summer wetsuit during this time. The rest of the year, shorts or a shorty will suffice.

Facilities

There is nothing at this beach and because of its difficulty to reach has no facilities. Having said that, you are very close to the busy resort of Sharm El Sheikh so if you fancy shops, bars, restaurants and some excellent nightlife, then this is the place to be.

Safety

Because of its location, you should not go surfing on your own. Always go in pairs or groups and you will be fine.
