General Information
Level:6-10 Season:January 1 — December 31 -
El Rosita is located south of Almeria at the mouth of the Rio Andarax and is a good spot for kitesurfers with intermediate to expert ability. There is no real season here since the Spanish climate lends itself to year round surfing.
-
Beach
-
There is a medium sized natural sandy beach here with enough space to lay out your gear. The summer months tend to see a few more visitors but it is never that crowded. You can get here, once you are in Almeria, by driving along Avenida Cabo de Gata. Once it turns away from the sea you will come to a bridge passing over the Rio Andarax. Turn right just after you have crossed it and drive southwards towards the water where you can park. The spot is just east of the river mouth.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The winds are predominantly southerlies and directions thereof. The best direction for this spot is south south west and the best winds are to be had in the winter months, although it can be gusty at times. The water quality is crystal clear and tends to be choppy although you can get some nice waves with the right conditions. The climate is good here and the water temperature varies between 18 degrees in the winter and 23 degrees in the summer. The outside air varies between 20 degrees in the winter and 25-35 in the summer. Whilst shorts will suffice during the summer months, you will need to suit up for the winter.
-
Facilities
-
There is nothing here apart from a place to park so make sure you take some provisions with you. If you are after supplies and accommodation, then Almeria is the place to go. Here you will find everything that you could possibly need. The night life is not bad either.
