This beach has long been known for its excellent surf, and regularly holds surf competitions. It is suitable for everybody, and is a popular beach with a good vibe.

Beach

The beach is sandy and clean, with rocks and pebbles to the rear of it. It is usually quite a quiet spot with only a handful of surfers out, but as soon as it starts breaking properly you'll find it gets crowded very quickly indeed. Temperatures are typical for the area, and will be in the low teens in winter and towards is 20° C in summer.

Wind&Waves

Flat water spot

The best conditions can be had when the wind is blowing from the south-east, east or north-east and the swell is coming from the north-west, west or south-west. Catch it at the mid tide position and the swell will start working at less than 1 m and hold up to 2 m or more.  It is a beach break, both right and left, and the waves are fun if not particularly big or fast. The southern part of the area is a good left on a south-west swell, while the northern part is a right that is best on a north-west swell. Either way, length is not usually more than about 50 m although on the odd good day it can reach 100 or 150 m.

Facilities

Parking is either on the dirt lot above the beach, or in the park itself if you pay a fee.  Camping is allowed if you buy a permit, but you need are self-contained vehicle to do it as there is no water supply or toilet facilities.  Lifeguards watch over the beach.

Safety

There are no dangers here at all, it's a very safe place to surf and you couldn't come to harm if you tried.
