General Information
Level:0-10 Season:April 1 — October 31 -
Kite surfers and windsurfers of all ability levels from beginners to experts go out here. The area is sheltered by the headland to the east and conditions are fairly predictable but still interesting.
-
Beach
-
The beach here is very long with plenty of room and is made up of clean deep sand. It is big enough that it doesn't get crowded even in the holiday season. Air temperatures are warm here most of the year round, ranging from about 27° C in summer to 9 or 10° C in the middle of winter so for most of the year you will only need shorts.
-
Wind&Waves
-
You tend to get the best wind here between April and October when you'll have a decent wind nearly every day at speeds between 12 and 20 knots. Wind is possible the rest of the year and can be a decent strength but it is less predictable and the direction is not always favourable. The water around here is shallow and if the wind is light it will be flat, or choppy with a stronger wind.
-
Facilities
-
There are no facilities on the beach itself but the general area is well set up to cater for everybody whether you want bars and nightlife or entertainment for the family. Parking is in a large lot just off shore drive and is only a couple of minutes walk away from the shore. Camping is available in the State Park if you have a limited budget.
-
Safety
-
There are no hazards here at all as long as you are sensible. It is a place where you can just get out and enjoy the water without having to worry about what else is going on around you.
