General Information
Level:1-10 Season:January 1 — December 31 -
This fantastic lake spot is situated in Southern Bavaria close to the Austrian border. It is a reasonably popular spot for kite and wind surfers alike of all abilities, although it does get extremely crowded with tourists and bathers in the summer. Therefore it is probably best to avoid this area during the height of the season the best times to go are spring and autumn when the crowds have gone. If you can go on a weekday rather than a weekend, then you may be able to pick your spot.
-
Beach
-
This spot has a small beach made up of pebbles; however backing onto it is a large expanse of grassy meadow, so you can set up your gear here. To find it you need to get to Brunnen, find the campsite and walk through it. Here you will find the lake.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The wind direction is predominantly westerly for most of the year, but the best direction for surfing is north easterly, this can occur but not too often. The wind speed averages a breezy 12-13 knots but does get up to around 17 knots in December through to March. The water temperature is relatively warm in the summer around 15-18 degrees but drops to around 3 degrees in the winter so a thick suit is definitely required if you prefer surfing out of season. The water quality in the lake is fairly clear and the water itself is generally flat, however if the wind is in the right direction, it can get a little choppy.
-
Facilities
-
There is a camping ground that sits right on the lake. Here you can find accommodation, toilet and shower facilities and a restaurant and beer garden as well as a mini supermarket. If you prefer a little nightlife then you might want to head into Munich which is around 15 kms.

Safety
-
There are no real hazards to watch out for here, just be aware of large crowds of tourists and swimmers particularly throughout June, July and August.
