General Information
Level:6-10 Season:April 1 — September 1 -
Situated on the south eastern coast of Italy near the fishing port of Pescara lies the beach at Foro. It is a very popular spot for kite surfers and wind surfers of all intermediate and expert levels. It is not advisable for beginners to practice here because of the fact that there are some rocky wave breakers/groynes situated about 170 meters out which need to be avoided. Although the beach does get busy with tourists during the summer season, the beach is large enough for you to have space, although it is advisable to move away from the bathers and swimmers. The best time of the year to surf here is between April and September when the thermal winds kick in.

Beach
-
The beach here is long and large. It is made up of compacted sand with pebbles near the shoreline. To get here you will need to head southbound out of Pescara following the signs for Foro and the beach. Here there is plenty of parking.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The main wind direction is south westerly and this is also the direction that works best here. The water quality is clear and conditions are flat to choppy most of the time. There is also a shallow area for the first 50 metres or so. The water temperature remains somewhere between 12-26 degrees depending upon the time of year, so you may want to suit up accordingly.
-
Facilities
-
There is parking close by and the town of Pescara has a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants and some accommodation. If you feel like letting your hair down then take a drive north towards the city of Ancona.
-
Safety
-
Be wary of the wave breakers which are around 80 meters long and situated 170 meters out to sea. If you want to get between them, there is about a 30 meter gap. Also keep an eye on the swimmers and bathers in and around the water during the busy summer season.
