General Information

Level:0-10 Season:January 1 — December 31

Waikikiwithout the crowds is the way this has been described, and it is a place where everyone can have a fun time although those with a lot of experience might find it is a little bit tame.

Beach

Did I mention this was on the Marine Base property?  Well, it is, and you’re going to have to figure out access or ask a local about it.  Of course, the plus side of that means that it is never busy – in fact, the chances are you’ll be the only person surfing out there.

Wind&Waves

Flat water spot

The wind usually comes out of the north, northwest or west here, and helps the swell which can come from the north, southeast, east or northeast but is really only good on a north swell.  It works at all tide positions and both rising and falling tides, and will start building at less than 1m before getting to a maximum of 1.5m or maybe 2m on the very best days.  Breaking both left and right over a reef, the waves are fun but pretty powerless and don’t carry a great deal of speed either.  Length isn’t bad for such a tame wave, being about 100m – 150m on most days and possibly 200 – 300m on the best days.

Facilities

This is a quiet spot and you get no facilities here – as it’s private, you aren’t going to get lifeguards, concession stands or surf shops.  Parking is right by the beach though and you can just step from the car onto it.

Safety

There are plenty of rocks around here and you’re going to have to be careful around the break.
