General Information
Level:0-10 Season:May 1 — October 31 -
This beach is just south of Port Douglas, and is a spot that is sheltered from most of the bigger swells by the Great Barrier Reef. The odd large swell does get through, making it a place that will appeal to windsurfers and kitesurfers of all experience levels. Surfers may also be interested on big days, and there is a sailing club here that may also cater for the odd catamaran sailor.

Beach
-
This beach is fantastic. It is stunning and very long, and is a good size. You won’t find any crowds here as the size soaks up the crowds easily, and the southern part of the beach is where the watersports are found as they are away from the resort and hotel areas.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The season runs from May to October, with a south east wind giving the best conditions. The wind sometimes won’t come up until mid afternoon, but whenever it blows you’ll be looking at a decent 15 – 25 knots. North winds are also possible, but aren’t as good and are onshore at the north end but sideshore at the south end. Water is usually flat or choppy, with some larger waves up to 3m high possible towards the north end of the beach.
-
Facilities
-
There are plenty of places nearby where you can get accommodation, and camping is possible if you don’t want a hotel. There are showers and toilets on the beach that are open to the public, and a few places selling food and drink. Parking is easy, find a space in one of the streets towards the south end of the beach and you’ll only have a short walk.

Safety
-
Wear a suit to avoid jellyfish stings, and be sensible and respect other visitors.
