Situated on the western coast of Italy in the beautiful region of Tuscany lies the beach at Gianella Foce Del Fiume. It is a very popular spot for kite surfers, wind surfers and surfers of all levels and abilities. The beach does get very busy in the summer and because of this it is forbidden to ride within 200 meters of the shoreline between the months of June, July and August. The best times to surf are between April and May and September through till November.

Beach

Pebble/Shingle Gradual descent

The beach here is of medium size and is made up of a mixture of sand and pebbles (particularly near the shoreline). It gets packed with beach goers and sun bathers during the summer months. To get here you will need to drive southbound out of Grosseto on the E80 heading towards Porto Santo Stefano. When you get here turn right towards the beach and parking.

The best directions are north west and south west and both directions work well here. The water quality is clear and conditions are generally choppy with small to medium waves, which appear when the wind is constant and in the right direction. The water temperature falls somewhere between 12-26 degrees depending upon the time of the year. During the winter it is recommended that you suit up.

There is plenty of parking available here. If you need shops, bars, restaurants and accommodation then the nearest town is Grosseto which is a short drive away.

Safety

This is a fairly safe spot. Just be mindful of the swimmers and bathers in and around the water during the busy summer months.
