General Information

Situated at the end of the gulf of Gokova lies the Gokce kite beach. This spot is mainly used by kite surfers but can also be used by wind surfers of all levels and abilities. There is a training school at the site which is situated far enough away from the swimmers and bathers. So you can use it most of the year round. Having said this the best season here is from April through to the end of September when the thermal winds kick in.

Beach

The beach here is fairly large at around 3 kms in length and does not contain any obstacles or hazards to speak of. To get here you will need to drive from Dalaman airport following the signs for Gokova. When you get here you should then follow the signs for Gokce and the kite beach.

The wind here is very consistent and is one of the best places in Turkey to surf. The two main wind directions are north and west and variations thereof and windspeed is anything up to 18-20 knots increasing gradually throughout the day. The water quality is clean and conditions are flat to choppy with the first 50 meters being shallow with no waves. The water temperature falls somewhere between 12-26 degrees depending upon the time of year. you can get away with a shorty or shorts up until about October. After this it is advisable to use a full length suit.

Facilities

The facilities here are very good. You will find a surf school, with a surf shop and rental hire. You will also come across shower and toilet facilities. There is also a fully manned rescue center close by along with plenty of eating establishments and accommodation, including a campsite. If you really want to let your hair down, then think about heading back to Marmaris (It's only a 20 minute drive)

Safety

This is a pretty safe spot with no hazards or obstacles. Just be mindful of the swimmers and bathers in and around the water during the busy summer months.
