General Information
Level:0-10 Season:January 1 — December 31 -
Also known as Gloucester Harbor, this is a fun little spot for all experience levels. It is friendly with a good atmosphere, and beginners can often find people willing to help if they need it. It also has some great views of the coast.
-
Beach
-
The beach is sandy but small at this spot. It is public access and pretty easy to find – from Gloucester, just drive down the 128 and follow the signs to Good Harbor. Park in the official lot or on Bass Rocks Road and take a walk for 5 minutes or so down to the shore. In summer, surfing is prohibited during business hours but off-season it is allowed all the time.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The prevailing winds here come from the north or northeast, and south or southeast. The swell is only from the southeast or east, and it starts working at about 1m before holding to 2.5m or even 3m on the big winter swells. Catch it on a rising tide either at low or mid tide for the best surf. It is a river mouth, breaking right and left, and the waves are fairly powerful but fun, with the best spot on the farthest right point of the mouth. A normal day length will be up to 150m, but a good day will see the break reach up to 300m.

Facilities
-
Gloucester is a fairly big summer holiday destination, although its industry is still based around the harbor. It has plenty of choice for accommodation and eating, and a few places of interest if you are waiting for a good surf day.
-
Safety
-
The only danger here is the rocks, but as long as you remember they are there they won’t be a problem.
