General Information
Level:0-10 Season:January 1 — May 31 -
This is right at the southern end of grand Isle, and takes advantage of the currents that come around the entrance to Caminada Bay. Surfers, kiters and windsurfers all go out here and it is suitable for all experience levels.
-
Beach
-
The beach is sandy and long but not particularly wide, though if you are here with a kite and need room to sort out your rigging then this can be done on the grassy area between the beach and the road. Summers here are hot and humid, fall and spring are more comfortable, and winter is the only time you will need a wetsuit as the water temperature drops to around 12° C.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The best months to be here are between January and May when the south-west wind is blowing and the speed is between 10 and 15 knots. The rest of the year has much lighter, less consistent wind that is difficult to predict. The water is often flat between the sandbar and the beach, but outside this area you'll usually find small or medium waves that can reach up to about 3 m.
