General Information
Level:5-10 Season:October 1 — April 30 -
This is a good spot after a storm, but it should only be surfed by experienced people due to the difficult location.
-
Beach
-
There isn’t really a beach to speak of here; you are going off a rock jetty. To get here from the mainland, just head north on Route 152 until you cross the harbour into Longport. Take a right when you reach Atlantic Avenue and follow it as far down as you can. Park up wherever you can find a free spot and the jetty is only a couple of minutes walk away.
-
Wind&Waves
-
Although this is a fairly sheltered spot, it isn’t an easy one. The swell starts working at less than 1m and builds up to about 2.5m, or slightly more on a good day. It is a jetty break, both left and right, and the power of the waves is about average. The length of the wave doesn’t vary much between the best and worst days, with 100-150m being about the standard. The best time to be here is following a storm in the fall or winter, as the biggest swells roll in then. It is pretty much empty during the week, and might have a handful of surfers out at weekends.

Facilities
-
There is nothing here in terms of facilities, but Longport itself does have a few points of interest dotted about and is a relaxing, old fashioned town.
-
Safety
-
The jetty should be avoided, obviously, but you also need to watch out for boats entering and leaving the harbor. You also don’t want to get tangled up with the lines of the fisherman who are often round here.
